Licensed Massage Therapist

Certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapist

Nicole Longwell licensed massage therapist serving Dunedin, Clearwater, Oldsmar, Ozona, Seminole, Palm Harbor, Tampa, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties
  • What is the cost?
60 minutes is $95 and 90 minutes is $145. Ideally the initial sessions should be 90min, which is $145.
  • Is insurance accepted?
The practice accepts only cash, check, or credit card. Due to the nature of how insurance coverage works and reimburses, insurance is not accepted. You will receive a receipt for each session that you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement for self pay.
  • What can I expect from my session?
Each of us has our individual needs. Receiving massage therapy can be a very unique experience as each session is different from person to person, as well as from session to session. My goal with clients is to help them to become more aware of their own bodies by educating them about ways to better manage stress, increase flexibility, decrease pain or discomfort, improve posture, and move more freely or efficiently. If clients have pain, this can also help them to better identify pain patterns or structural distortions contributing to pain. When clients are more proactive, it can help them to feel as though they are part of their own health and wellness regimen. *Essential oils may be used during sessions, upon request or recommendation. I require an ONLINE INTAKE form to be completed prior to the first session. The form will be emailed to you with a link from Longwell Massage Therapy (it may be in junk email); no printing is necessary or warranted. Clients may bring supportive documentation including test results or reports, imaging, or itemized lists. During the initial visit, we develop a treatment plan based on the client's individual needs and goals. This includes, but is not limited to, your chief complaint(s), completed health history, physician’s orders, a postural evaluation, and palpation/examination of soft tissues. We can also determine what the goal is for your session(s) if that has not been established yet. Much of the first visit is devoted to going over the history and reason for the visit, with some time reserved for actual hands-on work. Each session will begin with a brief review/documentation (which can take 10 to 15min), followed by treatment, which is tailored to meet your goals. Your comfort is very important. Confidentiality and privacy are honored. During sessions, you will be draped or covered accordingly; I typically will only uncover the area of the body being treated. Talking or discussion during each session is normal and often required to communicate what is going on. 60 and 90-minute sessions are available.
  • How often should I get therapy (Massage, or Lymphatic Drainage, CST, FSM, etc.) and how many sessions will it take?
It really depends on what condition or issue is being treated, how complicated it is, and what factors we have to consider like what is contributing to the issue (lifestyle, mental states, underlying or specific conditions, if there are co-infections or toxicity, diet, work or living conditions, etc.). For simpler issues (which is rare in my practice), it can be resolved in 1 to 5 sessions. However, most issues like chronic tension, stress, and pain, or complex issues like scar tissue, fibrotic (hardened tissue), post radiation, fibromyalgia, people with complex pain like Arachnoiditis, spine conditions, lymphedema or other forms of swelling, certain illnesses, toxicity, autoimmune or disorders, it can take longer and require more treatments. Ideally, in a perfect world, where time and money aren't an issue, one would get 1 to 2 sessions per week, for 2 to 6 weeks, then reevaluate to determine efficacy and then plan accordingly for ongoing treatment, if that is what is decided. However, not everyone can do that so we try to work together to form a plan that works for each individual.
  • Can any of your therapies like Lymphatic Drainage help with hardened and swollen breasts (abdomen, arms, or legs)?
Yes, but it depends...on severity or the degree of swelling, how it occured, and what is still contributing to it now. It may be something that can be resolved or may become something that has to be managed. Management will be with therapy and then eventually self treatments at home, as I will try to teach you how to do that if possible/feasible.
  • Can Lymphatic Drainage or CranioSacral help with sinus congestion or puffiness in the face?
Yes, but it depends...on why you have congestion and puffiness. Some things can be resolved, while some situations require more ongoing treatments. I will generally teach self treatments as well after.
  • How many Lymphatic Drainage sessions do I need after plastic surgery?
Typically 4 to 10, unless there are specific areas that need more attention like fibrotic tissue (hardened areas) that don't resolve during that time.
  • Can massage and/or Microcurrent help with scars, fibrosis, burns, or post surgical or radiation therapy?
Yes. Scars cause pain and tension, block or hinder blood and lymphatic circulation, proper nerve function, and can harden further to create adhesions and/or fibrosis in some cases. It can be in small area or can have a wide spread effect. This can affect things like movement and posture. It can influence breathing, digestion, and other bodily processes. It can cause change sensation, cause discomfort, and pain. It can also create compensation and tension patterns throughout the body. Doing sacral tissue massage, as well as work on hardened fibrotic tissue, may help reduce these effects or challenges.
